One of the four values that every Sigma Kappa sister upholds is service—to each other, their college, and their community as a whole. Each Sigma Kappa must complete a minimum of twelve hours of community service during each academic semester and members are encouraged to go above and beyond the expectations.
The Walk to End Alzheimer's
Sigma Kappa has participated in the Walk to End Alzheimer's disease annually since 2007. As a chapter, we pair up with the Boston University's Sigma Kappa chapter to participate in the Boston Walk to End Alzheimer's Disease. In total, Sigma Kappa members have donated $3 million dollars for Alzheimer's support and research.
We will be hosting our own Walk to End Alzheimer's on Northeastern's campus on November 5th to raise money for the Alzheimer's Association, support those suffering from Alzheimer's disease, and spread awareness. There will be music, a great speaker, and more! Please check out our Facebook Event Page for more details!
Cycle For a Cure
We will be hosting a spin class at Turnstyle South End on November 20th. Tickets are $12 a person and all proceeds benefit the Alzheimer's Association. Please see our Cycle for a Cure Facebook Page for more information.
SigKaps and Baseball Bats Ultra Violet Event
During the Fall 2016 semester, we paired up with Northeastern's Varsity Baseball Team to host a softball tournament on October 15th. We fundraised for the Alzheimer's Association, Sigma Kappa Foundation, and Kids Kicking Cancer!!
We were able to raise $564 for our philanthropies!
Relay for Life
As a chapter, we participate in Relay for Life at Northeastern University. Every year, we form a Relay for Life Team and fundraise. Many of our sisters are heavily involved with planning the event as well.
Please help us reach our goal of fundraising $10,000 for the American Cancer Society! Check out our Relay for Life Fundraising Page to make a donation or to learn more about the event!
